About Marko Ilich
My goal is to perform, succeed, and do what I love the most, whether it be in soccer or in academics. My drive to perform and succeed comes from my want to impress people and impact the team I’m on, and I think that my attributes mentally and physically can strongly impact and help the college or university I represent.
Date of birth: 27/10/1999
Top academy goalkeeper award for FK Crvena Zvezda u15
What makes you different?
I love pressure. I love impressing people. There’s no better sound to me than the gasps and cheers after making a big save. There’s no better feeling than having people watch me. Pressure drives me and gets me to perform. I don’t put my head down. I give 100% throughout the game no matter what the score is, and inspire and lead my teammates on the field to do so as well. My desire to perform comes from my desire to impress, and these attributes have contributed to many wins and achievements with various teams throughout my career.
Why do you want to compete in college?
The idea of high caliber soccer in an environment where you can also get an education at the same time is a win-win situation and intrigues me. It provides a great bridge to professional soccer, and if you can’t make it pro, you have an education to fall back on so that either way you can do something you love in life.
To perform my best in soccer as well as in academics, getting a degree in coaching, business, or travel and tourism, while hopefully getting noticed by professional teams and making it professionally.
Soccer and life Goals?
My goal in soccer is the same as my goal is in life: to succeed and do what I love for as long as I can. I would love to continue my work with soccer even if I do not make it professionally, with opportunities such as coaching and scouting being possible through colleges. As long as I am happy, my life goal is met.
Anything else we should know?
I’m funny, I love meeting new people, I am easy to get along with, and I am a natural leader.
