How to Schedule a Visa Appointment
In order to compete for a university or college in the United States athletes need to complete a visa application. The first step toward obtaining a student visa is scheduling the initial appointment.
To schedule an appointment student athletes will need the SEVIS ID number found on the I-20 Form to schedule an interview at the United States embassy. They must also pay the online SEVIS fee and complete the online DS-160 form.
1. To begin, athletes must pay the SEVIS-fee by credit card online via: www.fmjfee.com. After the payment has been made, athletes can find payment confirmation on the website (under the link labeled “Check Status”), which should be printed off for and kept for their personal records. Please note that this confirmation of payment must be presented at the time of the embassy appointment.
2. The next step is to visit https://ceac.state.gov/Genniv/ to obtain the DS-160 form mentioned earlier. Instructions on how to fill out the form may be found on the DS-160 website.
3. Once you have received your I-20 Form you can schedule your embassy appointment. Please register and complete the fee payment online with the Consulate via: http://ustraveldocs.com/ OR https://ais.usvisainfo.com/en-US/countries_list/niv. If an student athlete plans to visit a United States embassy in any other country, please inquire with the respective United States embassy in regards to methods of fee payment available.
