Everything you need to know about the NCAA Clearinghouse
For prospective athletes seeking to play in the NCAA ,being able to prove they are eligible to do so is a crucial step toward playing at the collegiate level. Everyday hundreds of aspiring athletes around the world begin this process with the NCAA clearinghouse to compete for Division I or Division II schools.
What is the NCAA Clearinghouse?
The Clearinghouse is an entity outside of the NCAA that looks at prospective student-athlete’s academic records to indicate whether or not they will be eligible to compete in the NCAA Division I or Division II.
How do I become eligible through the Clearinghouse?
In order to become eligible an athlete must first register with the Clearinghouse by creating an account on their website. After creating an account, the Clearinghouse will ask for athletes to upload their transcripts, test scores, and complete an assessment to determine whether or not they are considered amateur status. Once this information is registered with the Clearinghouse they will then determine whether or not the athlete is considered a qualifier or non-qualifier based on the given information.
When should I create an account with the Clearinghouse?
The Clearinghouse may take time to process an athletes information thus it is best to begin the Clearinghouse process during an athletes junior year of high school giving ample time for their information to be processed and avoid being caught in the back up of athletes who attempt to be cleared at the last minute.
Are there any fees to join the Clearinghouse?
Yes, there is a fee associated with joining the Clearinghouse which changes from year to year.
Can I send my transcripts and test scores myself to the Clearinghouse?
No, transcripts must be official and sent from all high schools the athlete has attended. Similarly, all test scores must be submitted from the testing provider.
The eligibility center will not accept faxed forms they must be mailed.
