Rowing scholarships explained

Rowing is hard endurance sport, but if you have the strength needed then a rowing scholarship is for you. Universities and colleges award rowing scholarships to very talented rowing athletes, which enables the athlete to participate in collegiate, intercollegiate matches and national championships. If you are a male or female athlete you are able to gain a rowing scholarship.

Rowing Scholarships - When is the best time?

The best time to go to the USA with a rowing scholarship is right after graduation from high school or up to two years after. Only athletes ages 18 - 24 can compete within the college leagues. Any older and you will be looking at competing in the NAIA. Coaches are increasingly committing to younger athletes as this gives them the opportunity to work with the athletes for a longer period of time. It is also possible to go to the USA for one, two, three or four years it depends if you wish to seek a bachelor degree from you time there. We would recommend going to America as early as possible because this will give you the best chance of gaining a sports scholarship and turning professional after college.

Rowing scholarships - How good do you have to be?

Athletic rowing scholarships for rowing can be achieved if you are at the right level. For good rowing players on the level of the Division I the chances to receive a full rowing scholarship are relatively high if you know whom to contact. In order to gain the opportunities of your profile and thus receive higher scholarship offers, it is important that you try to participate more in national tournaments in the time prior to starting U.S college. This will show college coaches that you are able to compete at a high level

If you are competing at national level then you have a great chance of receiving a 100% sports scholarship. Coaches will also look at an athlete’s potential, it’s a vital aspect, as coaches know from experience that even moderate athletic performance can be boosted immensely with their intensive training methods.
